Is Pain a teacher, a gift to unravel the power within? A powerful experience rocked me and helped me understand the immense potential within us.
It was six in the morning. I had completed my early morning yoga abhyasa and I walked upstairs to my bedroom. The pull-up bar fitted to my bedroom door frame was inviting me for a good swing and stretch. I began my usual routine of heaving myself over the bar. But this morning my body began to respond strangely. I continued to stretch further hoping to relax soon. I ended the session with a long stretch.
But then I was in for the unexpected, as I felt my neck muscles stiffening up. I loosened the grip on the bar and landed on the floor. By then there seemed to be a growing pain in my neck and the spasms began to surface from within. The pain was shooting up all the way to my head.
The pain brought back memories of past experiences where I had spent days trying to manipulate and recuperate from a stiff neck. It was far from pleasant to recall from my struggles with neck alignment correction. The best I could think at this moment is to deeply relax and slowly get back to normalcy.
However within minutes the situation began to worsen, demanding my exclusive attention to the growing pain. I had to do something to shut off the imminent growing threats within. I tried everything i knew or had trained myself to do under such circumstances.
After a good 20 minutes of intricate neck muscle movement and manipulation, I only felt a minor sense of relief. But I had this strange thoughts gripping all over me that there was something more to this pain.
An hour later, I requested a bit of pampering from my beloved wife. She was kind enough to give me a hot water bag, which she placed under my nape as I hit the pillow. Thankfully it served as a good relief measure. The heat emanating from the bag did manage to reduce the spasms for a while. But these moments were shortlived as I woke up later to a ‘super heavy neck’ like never before. I noticed that I couldnt lie down without a feeling of an intense pull as if I had a few strands of knotted up wire in the neck. Lateral neck movement had became a tremendously heavy task.
I lied down on the couch contemplating over how I could get back to the best of my fitness, as the current situation was beginning to tie me down longer than i presumed.
I could have easily brushed aside this as a minor discomfort and not over react to a crick in the neck:) But such was the intensity of the pain it occupied my mind space with frantic calls for some healing action.
Evening arrived with nothing to look forward to but to my pending neck project. My attention was drawn towards a kitchen note which reminded that i had to buy some groceries. The store store is two lanes away from home. I stepped out and soaked in the evening buzz of Bur Dubai, as office goers were hurrying home.
As I walked past the pharmacy, I recalled that a muscle relaxant could probably relieve me a bit. The pharmacist at the counter was unapolegetic as he turned down my request for a relaxant. He requested a doctor precription which I didnt have with me. A visit to the doctor didnt appeal to me the least. I walked out thanking him for helping me avoid medication which i had upheld for more than 10 years of my practice of bio-energy healing.
Back home, i had a simple dinner and went straight to my drawing room. This multi-purpose room has served as my meditation space for many years and I can say for sure that the energy in here is immense. Some visitors have rated the energy in here as high as ‘Oneness’ meditation centre in India where hundreds of thousands of meditatation hours have been logged in by sadhakas.
As i prepared to lie down in Yoga Nidra on the carpet, I felt my neck exploding with stinging spasms. Never before had I felt this way. I endured the pain and closed my eyes as i lay in shavasana. I then directed attention to my Ajna Chakra. There was a sublte tingle in the forehead which put me in deep peace within.
What could I possibly do now. Heal myself in yoga nidra? or go into deep dhyana? Questions came piercing at me. I lay without doing anything consciously. Several moments later I felt a surge in my Ajna chakra. The spin began gently and then intensified. All my focus was drawn into the spin. The feeling was immensely pleasurable as the tingling expanded and waves began to surface. It began to flow down my neck like a refreshing mountain stream. I had no part in directing this flow. I witnessed the dance of energies, enjoying every bit of it. The sheer intensity of it had completely mesmerized me into deep state of surrender.
The glorious moments of dancing energies finally tapered off and came to a slow halt. I must have been there for a good five minutes. Like a curious child, i wanted to know what did the dance of this energy do to me. I didnt know what to expect. But to my pleasant surprise, I felt tremendous lightness in my neck movement. The spasm was gone. I moved left to right, the stiffness too had disappeared. I repeated the movements all over again to make sure. And I erupted in joy as I began to understand what I had experienced. The immense power of healing within us had taken a step further.
Agya is a sanskrit term for ‘Command’. The command centre which is rooted in the Ajya Chakra had responded to my request for deep healing.
Ajna is a short form for Ajnana- which is a sanskrit term for ignorance. An unopened brow chakra is refered to as Ajna Chakra. An opened brow chakra is ‘Agya’ as it serves as a command centre and draws in prana and directs it within for manifestation. A new journey had begun for me with this deep, powerful experience.
A stubborn neck muscle spasm had disppeared effectively in 5 minutes of tingling prana flow. On further contemplation, all the answers came from within. It all boils down to the core basic understanding that lack of prana in us is a prime cause for pain. When prana is in its flow, body and mind are deeply connected and there is no dis-ease.
Traditional and Modern Science have their answers too. Our body is reportedly having all the required chemical ingredients to heal itself. One researcher has even claimed that human body is one of the the largest pharmacies in the world. But how often do we rely on this super-chain pharmacy to heal itself, remains a niggling question.
I wanted to broadcast my healing experience to the medical community. In most cases, we can do without your scribbled prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. But I guess I would be a popular punching bag of a very insidious, global cartel, which doesnt seem like a good idea.
I however, called my friends to tell how profound this experience is to me. A few agreed but they said wouldnt know how to go about this if they had a similar situation. I can only throw a simple question back at them. When Ajnana (ignorance) rules how can Ajya (command centre) take over? So I blogged this to inspire them further into practice of Chakra Dhyana. Maybe someday the gateway of wisdom throws open some pleasant surprises in more people who read this. The potential that is dormant within us is far too immense. The experience I have shared may be too insignificant and can be brushed under the carpet. However, I experienced further healing through the same mode on several occasions in the coming weeks. So I had repeatable experiences which means a lot to me and probably prick some ears in the scientific community.
The thirst for exploring further has fueled me to unravel the mystical power of third eye, the journey through the third ventricle also called the brahma guha, prakasha mandala and the light at the end of this guha (tunnel:)
very well written and something for me to think about. Very helpful, thank you
