Deepak Rammohan Ullal was born in a family of exceptional musicians. At the age of 8, he started lessons on sub-continental percussion instrument Tabla. He later performed with his father Rammohan Ullal, a Hindustani Classical vocalist in several concerts of great repute, including the performance at the Mysore Dasara Festival. At 45, He was fascinated by Santoor and strived to be adept at rendering raga based melodies with just over 5 years of intensive practice. Deepak breathes his intense passion into Santoor with rare abilities to render breathtakingly complex ‘left’ and ‘right’ hand rhythmic combinations. He lends his vast musical awareness and sense of rhythm to surprise purists with innovative playing styles in live concerts. He has performed at prestigious festivals like the Kashmir Music Festival and Kailasaa Music Festival.
